Start with Why

As a Business Development Specialist at CDG Group, Putter has worked full-time with CDG and feels fortunate for the opportunities to learn various aspects of the job. With supportive colleagues, he’s gained insights into both the big picture and details of his work. He’s worked with a relatively autonomous supervisor, enabling him to propose ideas, express opinions to solve problems, and improve various tasks without being tied to conventional methods. The spark that drives his ideas comes from being naturally inquisitive and not letting anything pass without questioning. He always seeks the root cause. Putter participated in an Innovation Challenge activity within CDG, where he practiced asking questions about users’ experiences and generated new ideas for designing an app that addressed challenges more effectively than before. The most valuable takeaway from this activity was the ability to answer exactly why he did what he did. “Start with Why” or asking questions for better results is one of the primary mottos of CDGs Core Values. Putter explains that asking good questions is a starting point that stimulates people to generate new ideas and fosters positive impact more quickly. “If we Start with Why in various tasks and by asking the right questions, we will know why we are working on a project, not just setting goals for ourselves, but inspiring team members to think and analyze together. When we think and inspire action, we can continuously share ideas and improve opportunities to create better results or solutions… If we ask, the world changes.” Goals in work and life must be clear.Putter shared his perspective on work and life, stating, “I believe that both work and life must have a clear Purpose. For example, working in a company, when we understand the company’s goals clearly, including the company’s value for employee involvement will lead to employees achieving better results aligning with their goals. It will have a positive impact on the employees’ lives. If we find that the goals are becoming unclear, we can seek advice or opinions from colleagues.”From Putter’s perspective, CDG is viewed as a leading tech company in Thailand because it offers a variety of technology solutions and undertakes numerous large-scale projects that have a broad impact. Besides meeting customer needs, CDG also contributes to improving the quality of life in society. “What I think is in the DNA of the CDG team is dedication, commitment, and collaboration. Many colleagues go above and beyond. I always receive genuine help; many things are done with dedicated assistance, which is very impressive.”As a Business Development specialist, Putter’s main task is to explore new opportunities for the business. He’s found that a crucial skill for this role is asking questions to understand others’ needs. He admits, “It’s not easy if we try to drive work solely without understanding others’ needs. When we receive a task, we should ask questions first: what their problems are, where they come from, what they really need. Only then can we choose the right tool to solve the problem and achieve better results. Once solved, we look for other existing problems to continuously improve on. With this mindset, we’ll always see opportunities for both work and personal development.”
